The Modification of the project 641 - a large torpedo submarine pr. 641B was developed by CKB "Rubin" and represented the third generation of soviet postwar SSK. The Main constructor was Z. A. Deribin.
It was classified as large submarine and was intended for fight against naval and surface targets at action. as intermediate type between SSK of second and third generations.
